    What You Will Do


    Gannett Fleming is currently seeking a Geospatial Database Designer/Programmer to work in either our Camp Hill, PA or our Raleigh, NC office.  This is a temp to full-time position.  The Geospatial Database Designer/Programmer would join a team of other GIS and IT professionals supporting our current development and consulting activities. The responsibilities entail the design and development of geospatial databases, data maintenance and processing toolsets, complex database logic and procedures for data maintenance/capture, among other project activities that offer daily diversity to a person’s experiences.  This exciting opportunity provides for an individual to grow their career while working with a motivated project team, in a dynamic, fun work environment.



    • This is a position with duties surrounding all phases of software life-cycle development
    • Completing tasks assigned by the Lead Developer/Architect and/or the Project Manager
    • Develop logical and physical geospatial data models based on client driven business requirements
    • Provides support for expanding and varied programming work
    • Works with other technical team members to coordinate the completion of tasks
    • Understand the day-to-day operations of the client and the technology being deployed and can help define and implement functionality that meets the requirements of the project's specifications
    • Support developers and testers in troubleshooting database problems
    • Perform/enhance backup and recovery strategies within Oracle and SQL Server
    • Support requests for historical data reports
    • Other tasks outlined by development manager


    Minimum Qualifications


    • a four-year degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field required
    • 5+ years experience designing and administering geospatial databases
    • Experience with GIS and Esri software preferred
    • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
    • Ability to manage tasks and timelines effectively
    • Ability to manage project and daily tasks effectively
    • Quality interpersonal communication skills
    • A positive, team-oriented attitude and ability to stay focused in a fast-paced, rapid development environment

    Technical Skills

    • Experience working with Oracle and/or SQL Server relational database management systems is required
    • Geospatial database modeling experience is required
    • ETL and data migration script creation experience is required
    • Oracle Spatial and/or SQL Server Spatial is required
    • ESRI ArcGIS/SDE experience strongly recommended
    • Ability to use SQL to troubleshoot and optimize database performance
