Description/Responsibilities

What You Will Do

We are currently seeking a User Interface (UI) Designer/Developer to work preferably in our HarrisburgPA location, but other locations will be considered.  This is a part time or hourly position to start with potential for full time. The UI Designer/Developer role is a support role for enterprise solutions development.  Anticipation is that this individual would leverage responsive design techniques to support the agile requirements, design, and development cycles for projects.  This position will be primarily supporting public sector application development projects and may require limited travel to client sites and our Harrisburg location.

  • Work as part of a software development team to develop solutions based on client requirements
  • Participate in application requirements and design review meetings
  • Lead design and create user interfaces for web applications with current technologies
  • Lead and conduct usability testing
  • Provide new and exciting design ideas, methods, and technologies
  • Attend project status meetings as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Technical Communication, Human Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, or related field required.
  • 2-4 years experience designing and developing web application user interfaces
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Ability to manage tasks and timelines effectively

 

 Preferred Technical Skills

  • Actual human-machine interface design and development experience
  • Support implementation of design using modern JavaScript and mocking frameworks
  • Familiarity with Axure or similar wire framing software
  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience working with Visual Studio
  • Experience designing HTML5 User Interfaces and CSS driven layout
  • Experience hand coding HTML and CSS
  • Experience with cross-browser compatibility
  • Familiarity with Atlassian toolset (JIRA, Confluence) preferred, but not mandatory
  • Experience with 508 compliance preferred, but not mandatory
  • Understanding of User Experience (UX) as a concept and a desire to learn and begin improving designs based on UX.
