Description/Responsibilities

GeoDecisions is currently seeking a Systems Administrator to work in on base at Scott Air Force Base (O’Fallon, IL)with our embedded team. The candidate will join a thriving systems operations team servicing SDDC and USTRANSCOM as well as other DoD clients.  The candidate will work as part of the team that provides technical support of a classified and unclassified, logistics tracking system that provides geospatial enabling services to the USTRANSCOM enterprise.  This individual will help lead the effort to migrate the current system into the commercial cloud-based environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, schedules, and executes the installation/roll-out of Security Patches, Updates, and Service Packs
  • Creation of system documentation and inventory
  • Creation of system diagrams (Microsoft Visio, IO Draw, etc.)
  • Aids development staff with log collection and server-side debugging
  • Architects system hardware solutions
  • Coordinates with other Government organizations for networks and infrastructure support
  • Plans, coordinates and schedules necessary maintenance activities
  • Provides 24 x 7 on-call support
  • Executes deployment to production and client sites
  • Defines checklists and 'best-practice' documents to unify and standardize operations
  • Attend project status meetings as required
  • Migrate and Maintain systems in remote environments to include virtual architectures

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field required.
  • 5+years of experience
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage tasks and timelines effectively
  • Motivated to learn new technology and business processes and apply that knowledge to tasks
  • Demonstrable ability to work as part of an integrated team
  • Willingness/Ability to learn from others as well as through self-study
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher (Mandatory)
  • Must have a current Comp Tia Security+ certification (Mandatory)

 

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of at least one programming language (Java, C#)
  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python, Powershell)
  • Strong IP networking background
  • Familiarity with network devices such as switches, routers, and firewalls, but only at a theoretical level. (Candidates do not need to be familiar with Cisco IOS, Juniper JunOS, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of web technologies and internet infrastructure, such as REST, JSON, NodeJS, WebServices, and AWS preferred
  • Experience with cloud base computing and migration of system to the cloud is desired
