GFT is seeking a NEPA/PD&E Manager and Project Manager to join our transportation practice in Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, or Orlando FL! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our any of our Florida offices.

What you’ll be challenged to do:
Provide specialized expertise and manage projects in the areas of transportation planning, NEPA/PD&E/environmental planning and documentation, community planning, and/or associated specialties. The ideal candidate will be located in the State of Florida and will have experience working on NEPA/PD&E projects for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) as a Project Manager or similar role.

 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide technical and managerial oversight on NEPA/PD&E projects with a focus on transportation planning, environmental documentation, and community planning services.
  • Deliver major FDOT NEPA/PD&E projects, including new roadway alignments, interchange modifications, roadway capacity expansions, and bridge replacements.
  • Serve as Project Manager responsible for client coordination, team supervision, technical direction, and quality control across all disciplines and subconsultants.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of project teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet project schedules and budgets.
  • Lead and support business development activities, including identification of opportunities, pursuit strategies, teaming arrangements, proposal development, and client interviews.
  • Negotiate NEPA/PD&E contracts with clients and subconsultants, including development of detailed staff hour estimates, schedule commitments, and fee proposals.
  • Participate in the development of scopes of services, budgets, and schedules for planning and environmental documentation projects.
  • Organize and facilitate client and stakeholder meetings, public involvement events, and interdisciplinary team workshops.
  • Confer with civic leaders, local authorities, social scientists, and land use planners to guide transportation and community planning efforts.
  • Prepare written deliverables including technical reports, proposals, presentation materials, and supporting graphics.

What you will bring to our firm: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in NEPA/PD&E, transportation planning, or environmental documentation, including at least 5 years serving as a Project Manager or in a similar leadership role.
  • AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) or PE (Professional Engineer) required
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and leadership in NEPA/PD&E project delivery, with experience on FDOT contracts or similar state agency projects.
  • Prior experience negotiating contracts and managing scopes, budgets, schedules, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven track record in business development, including winning pursuits and managing client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and team leadership capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and planning-related tools; experience preparing reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Ability to travel within the state and attend client or stakeholder meetings as needed.
 
What we prefer you bring: 
  • A Masters degree is desired but not required.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or Professional Engineer (PE) license or certification is required.
 
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $150,000-$200,000 Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
